My professional timeline...

- Early Days - TGMC -
I began my technical career in 2000 at Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma, LA. I started out working in the Help Desk providing telephone and in-person support handling hardware, software, and network problems. The Help Desk team logged all incoming calls for support into a Microsoft Access database that was on a network share. It didn't take long to figure out that we needed a web front end on that database so I developed a web-based application written in ASP (now called Classic ASP). It was implemented and still in use when I left TGMC in December 2002. Before leaving TGMC, I began re-writing the application using ColdFusion (I think it was version 4.5). It was at that time that I got my first taste of the ColdFusion programming language and I really liked it.

- Big Break - SAIC -
I was still attending school during this time and one of my instructors was working as a DBA at Entergy Corporation. He seemed impressed with how I was doing in class. I told him that I was looking to move out of the Help Desk at TGMC and was open to other employment opportunities. He told me that he would put in a good word for me with the company that was handling information technology at Entergy (Science Applications International Corporation or SAIC). Apparently, that was good enough to get me an interview with SAIC. After a couple of interviews and a technical competency test, I was offered a positon at SAIC in New Orleans, LA.

While employed at SAIC my primary function was to develop and maintain existing applications written in ASP but also to learn and develop new applications using ASP.NET. I also did quite a bit of work using Adobe Flash developing interactive navigation systems, online tutorials and CBT's delivered online and via CDROM. I worked at SAIC until I accepted a position at the University of New Orleans in 2004 where I have been employed ever since.

- Current Job - UNO -
Currently at the University of New Orleans, I develop online applications using ColdFusion and SQL Server and/or Oracle database backends. I also supervise/mentor the daily activities of the University Webmaster. On a part-time basis, I serve as a technology instructor at the University of New Orleans Computer Technology Training Center (Downtown Center) and as a technology instructor at NASA Stennis Space Center (through Pearl River Community College).

- Personal -
I am a happily married father of 3 boys. I have been married to my wife Rhonda since 1990 and love her more than I can express here. My three boys; Ryan, Cory and Derek (pictured above) keep me active. I enjoy spending time doing whatever my boys are into at the time (baseball, football, basketball or golf). They keep me busy and sometimes it is a lot of work...but I love it!
